A graduate of the Warsaw School of Economics, post-graduate studies in law and administration at the University of Wrocław and of studies in company goodwill management at the Warsaw School of Economics. In 2002 he graduated from Advanced Management Programme at INSEAD university in Fontainebleau in France.

During the years of 1994-2001 he held the position of the Vice-President for Finance at PKN Orlen. He was also the President of Elana S.A. and of Polkomtel S.A., a mobile telecommunication operator. In recent years Marek Mroczkowski served in the capacity of a vice-president for finance, and for eight months he headed the Management Board of a Czech holding of “Unipetrol”. Lately he has held the post of a Management Board President at a Lithuanian oil-processing company of Możejki NAFTA AB, which is a part of the polish concern of PKN Orlen.
